The pineapple bun is baked to perfection, with a crispy, crumbly topping that adds a sweet touch to the fluffy and chewy bun. The juicy and crispy pork chop, paired with a fried egg, creates a harmonious blend of flavors that will satisfy your taste buds.

Make sure to add Alice’s Kitchen to your list of must-visit dining spots for a taste of authentic Cantonese cuisine.

the inside of this restaurant truly reminds me of hong kong. the servers were attentive & the food came out fairly fast. i ordered a congee, four rolls, & pineapple buns. they all tasted good. the steamed rolls were a bit overcooked. they have similar menu items to delicious food corner.

This Alice's Kitchen location can be found on Garvey with a small parking lot. But it seems like most patrons are parking in the neighborhood. We were lucky to get the last parking spot in their little lot. Because this Alice's Kitchen is dog friendly (the one in Temple City is not), my husband and I brought our little girl dog for breakfast this past Saturday, around 8:35 am. There was no line and were seated outside right away (there is a very nice large outdoor seating area that is covered at this location). After looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: Western Breakfast B Imitation Abalone & Ham, $13.75 prior to tax- With the western breakfast set, it is served with scrambled eggs, your choice of toast or bolo bun (pineapple bun) and your choice of noodle. I picked toast and flat rice noodle. The toast came very lightly buttered, which is nice because I don't like it when American breakfast places have toast heavily buttered. The imitation abalone and ham was not bad but my husband didn't really care for it. I liked the flat noodles and the broth itself was fine. The soup itself is rather plain but I don't mind it since it reminds me of the spam and macaroni soup that I had at previous Hong Kong cafes for breakfast when I was much younger. But my husband, who has never really had Hong Kong breakfast, didn't like it. Pork & Preserved Egg Congee, $12.50prior to tax- This meal comes with either a Chinese donut or steamed rice roll. My husband opted for the donut (you taio). The portion size of plenty for 2 people to have. I really liked this congee, especially the preserved egg. My husband thought it was good but feels that the congee he makes at home is better. Our meals come with a beverage, in which we both picked Hong Kong Style Milk Tea, but hot since it was a rather cold morning. Your drink at breakfast comes with 2 refills but you will be charged for a 3rd if you order one. I only had one refill but my husband had 2. --------------------------------- (Total= $28.94 after tax, prior to tip) I believe you can pay with credit card, once you meet a certain minimum (a previous Yelp member had mentioned $20) but I paid cash. Service was actually quite attentive, as I was not expecting so since we were sitting outside. Actually there were more people sitting outside than inside. Service was also friendly too. Wait time for our food and also for our drink refills was not long at all and the ladies' restroom was actually clean and adequately stocked with the essentials (soap, toilet paper, paper towels, seat covers). Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and am glad that we were able to have a nice breakfast. When we left, closer to 9:30 am, there was a line building, waiting for a table, although there were still plenty of outdoor seating available.

Alice's Kitchen has two locations. I visited the Monterey Park store. When you drive past Alice's Kitchen, the restaurant won't look like much--so don't expect someplace fancy. (I'm told that the Temple City location is more thematically decorated.) There is an indoor dining room. There is outdoor dining under awnings, as well. The store has its own parking lot; but it is undersized during peak demand. You may have to park on Garvey, or on one of the nearby side streets. The restaurant describes itself as a Hong Kong style café. I would describe the food here as Cantonese comfort food. On this visit, we ordered: the sautéed shrimp w/ XO sauce ($15.75); fish filet congee ($12.75); shredded pork chow mien ($12.99); hot tea ($1.95); and a coke ($2.75). With tax ($4.74), the ticket was $50.93 before gratuity. The chow mein is gravy with (for the most park) shredded pork and mushrooms poured over deep-fried egg noodles. You commonly find beef, chicken, or sea food Hong Kong style chow mein outside of the Asian community, so pork was a nice change. The congee was very good in its taste and texture. The serving of fish was appropriate for the size of the bowl. The shrimp was served with a bowl of white rice on the side; and part of me wished there was more shrimp in the serving. But I reconcile myself with the reminder that once upon a time, animal protein was a condiment to vegetables--not the primary part of the meal. The blend of vegetables was good; and the overall taste of the dish was flavorful. Having travelled overseas, I feel that the taste of the dishes ordered is very close to "authentic".

Food : 4/5 Decent cafe food we ordered a couple dishes and tried a little of each. I ordered the chicken steak and lemon grass pork chop. The chicken steak had a crunchy exterior and was cooked perfectly, was quite juicy and tender. The pork chop was decently flavor with lemongrass and it comes with a dipping sauce of your choice: black pepper, mushroom, or garlic. Comes with boiled corn and either spaghetti or rice. The spaghetti is not really flavorful and overcooked. Other dishes that were order: beef chow fun, chow mein, XO stir fry shrimp and baked pork in tomato sauce. Service: 4/5 Waiter was quick to take orders and quick with the food. You'll have to ask for refills and boxes. Ambiance: 4/5 Nice hint king style cafe. The did expand seating area to the parking lot with a tent for shade.

Craving for Hong Kong style comfort food, there seemed to be handful of options available in the eastern part of LA. Alice Kitchen 'magically popped on my IG feed' and there we were. Highly recommended to join the waitlist online to avoid long wait. Providing plenty of both indoor and outdoor seats, the venue gave that old school Hong Kong cafe/resto vibes. We started with the small rice paper rolls cooked in the house peanut sauce. I've been craving for this comforting appetizer and it's so nice finally having it, just wishing it came with meat or Chinese doughnut sticks instead of the rice paper alone. Their HK Style Pineapple Bun should never be skipped. The crunchy sweet layer on top perfectly blended with the soft fluffy bun and savory stuffing. They had multiple options and we opted for pork chop, which was delightfully tender and well complemented by the tasty sauce and sunny side up. We closed our meals with the Ovaltine French Toast to end it sweet and it's slapping! The taste was literally as amusing as the lava explosion, and I was so hyped finding Ovaltine!

Amazing Hong Kong style cafe that fits perfectly in Monterey park! We were seated and then the staff moved us where it was less windy. Huge menu and short wait time for food. Well priced for the large portions. I recommend any of three baked rice and anything with their steak; super tender and flavorful.

The type of comfort food that you would get at a hongkong cafe. Their hongkong breakfast and lunch/dinner menus have all the classic dishes you would need. We stopped by for dinner on a weekend at around 6pm and there was no wait. We ordered the honey garlic pork chop, rice noodle w sesame sauce and a cauliflower stir fry with pork jowl. All three dishes were delicious. The iced milk tea was good as well. We had to wait around 20 minutes for food to be served. Parking: they have a small lot with very limited parking. Street parking is likely the option.

Have been here several times, just haven't gotten around to write a long overdue review. Service is typical Hong Kong style cafe level, but friendly and efficient. There are lots of outside seating which is very nice. On our latest visit, we had a Singapore style fried vermicelli, beef chow fun, and sampan congee. Everything was delicious; the standout was the Singapore style fried vermicelli because their curry had a really nice flavor. In the past I have also tried their famous Pineapple Bun with pork chop and egg. It was very unique and tasty, just a bit messy to eat. Portions were very generous and prices were very affordable. Their menu is very extensive. If you like Hong Kong style cafe food, you won't be disappointed.

If you're lucky, you can get someone on the phone to order pickup. If you go there, likely there will be a line. Food is good, but I wouldn't want to wait too long. This place is always packed. Comfort hk food, what's not to like.
